If it is a planned departure - I autopost several posts and try to get on as able - if it is something unforseeable then as soon as I am able to post I put a short post up just letting the readers know that I'm have a personal crisis and will return just as soon as possible and try to keep updates as often as I can.

Hope this helps.

I'm relatively new to blogging and this is a question I'm wrestling with since not blogging over my Easter break. I'm most comfortable with the idea of scheduling some posts ahead. I'm aiming to get about 2 weeks ahead and just swapping in time critical or topical posts as they come up.

I believe than many of my regular blog-watchers will respect my having a break. However, I'm putting a lot of effort into recruiting them and I wouldn't want them to get used to not hearing from me and starting to forget to visit - I don't want to lose them. So I'm also aiming to pre-schedule posts for when I'm away.

Depends on how long I'm going to be gone. If it's just a couple days I tend to pre-schedule blog posts. If it's an extended period I simply put up a notice of why I'm gone and leave it at that.
